Richard Dalzel Passes his GST.

Successfully avoiding the nasty big rain clouds today (23/8/17) was a challenge in itself but passing his General Skills Test simultaneously was definitely the icing on the cake for Richard Dalzell . Now Richard’s only problem is prizing the Jabiru he part owns from the grasping paws of the other members of the group. Well done Richard , your license should be in your hands by early September.

David Stewart Solo on 10th August

David Stewart has flown gliders for several years but until now has not flown powered Aircraft . It only took him two hours to become familiar with the noisy buzzy thing at the front of the Thruster before he flew his first solo flight on 10th August. ( Just unfortunate that you have to put fuel in it ).

Lawrence Devine Passes GST

Lawence Devine’s weekly pilgrimages all the way from Letterkenny to the Ulster Flying Club paid off on the 23rd July when he passed his GST in the school Thruster . Now Lawrence can look forward to flying that nice little X Air that he has stashed away at Mac Borden’s airfield in Letterkenny. Nice one Lawence !

Phelim Brady already has a license to drive a 44 ton Articulated Truck and after passing his GFT on 16th July he will have a license to fly a 450kg Microlight Aircraft as well . Guess which one he prefers ?

Gary Moore punches the air with delight after successfully completing his GFT on 7th July . His Pilot’s license will also be in his fist within a few days and then he will be in the sky over Newtowards in his own Jabiru Microlight

Mark "Cool" passes his GST.

The Cool guy draped round the Thruster wing is Mark Smith who passed his GST on 3rd July in the minimum required time of 25 hours . He then celebrated by getting the instructor to give him a conversion flight in his own Jabiru Microlight so that he will be able to go flying the minute his license arrives from the CAA .

Brian Patton is "LICENSED TO FLY"

Brian Patton isn’t 84 until next month but he has just given himself an early birthday present of a National Private Pilots License when he passed his GFT on 26th June 2017. He is now thinking about which Microlight Group to join at Newtowards so he can take his mates up for a flight in his own Microlight .

Kimmo obtains his Flying License in under 6 weeks.

Kimmo started his first ever flying lesson on the 15th of May and walked away with his NPPL Microlight license on the 21st of June. That is less than 6 weeks . He now intends to add an NPPL Group A rating to his license and given his current rate of progress that will take until at least next Tuesday. He brings a whole new meaning to the saying " Time Flys "

Mark , Declan, Garry and Richard are all learning to fly at Northern Ireland Microlights and these four are thinking well ahead to when the get their own Flying Licenses . So , they grouped together to buy their own Microlight which is pictured next to the rather chuffed looking owners. The aircraft is a Jabiru 450 and is in super condition . No doubt airfields throughout the UK and Ireland will be seeing alot of this Microlight and its owners in the months and years to come.

The happy looking Pilot in the cockpit of G CGFZ has just completed his first Solo Flight after and incredible 6hours 20 minutes training. Kimmo ( apparently a Finnish name) has hundreds of hours logged on a Flight Simulator but had never flown the real thing until two weeks ago. He was not detered by the fact the the Thruster did not appear to have an abort/reset button on the control panel and completed his first solo on 23/5/2017.

The wind couldn’t make up its mind what direction to come from today but Richard Dalzell had made his mind up that he would overcome adversity to fly his first Solo . The Instructor agreed that Richard had mastered the conditions so the long awaited event took place on 7/ May /2017 In the event Richard’s First Solo was flawless . Congratulations Richard the landing was excellent .

Computer guru Declan McGill decides that manually controlling an aircraft is more fun than fly by wire simulators and takes to the sky for his First Solo on 23/April/2017. The landing was excellent. Well done Declan.

It is slightly different from his normal Builders Van but Gary Moore now has another option for delivery of his building materials because he has just flown his first solo flight in Thruster G CGFZ. . A great achievement with only 10 hours tuition.

John Brady is now "Licensed to Fly"

John Brady joined an exclusive club on 6th April 2017 when he passed his GST in Thruster G CGFZ. As the holder of a National Private Pilots License he will soon be flying his friends and relatives from his own private airfield near Dungannon in his own Red Thruster. Does life get any better than this? Congratulations John .
